5th Grade Spelling Bee
Annual Fifth Grade Spelling Bee
The Brookline Education Foundation invites your 5th grade child to participate in its annual 5th Grade Spelling Bee. This year's Bee starts at 1 PM on Sunday, March 12th, 2017 in the Brookline High School Auditorium. Details about the Bee will be emailed to the homes of 5th grade students in the Brookline Public Schools at the end of January. If your child likes to spell, please encourage him or her to participate.
The first place winner in our 2016 Spelling Bee was Leo Thompson from the Heath School. The winning word was "antidote." Congratulations to our winner and to all the students who participated in our Bee.
How does the Children's Spelling Bee work?
The Children’s Spelling Bee is an “old-fashioned” spelling bee with the spellers taking turns, each spelling a different word. Once a speller misspells one word, he or she is out of the Bee. Prizes are awarded to the winners and each speller receives a certificate for participating. For details on how the Bee works, see Spelling Bee Rules and Procedures.
Registration for the 2017 Spelling Bee is now closed.
