Bonjour BEF!
My name is AmyBeth Smith and I work as the Campus Director for the French Ministry of Education overseeing the administration, licensure, and accreditation of the French schools in the Greater Boston area. I entered the education field in 2008 shortly after completing school. I have two degrees from Boston University: a Bachelor’s in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) with dual concentrations in Maternal and Child Health and Social and Behavioral Science.
Outside the French education system, I volunteer in advocacy and public policy, and at my daughter’s school.. I was recently elected Vice President of the Massachusetts Association for the Education of Young Children (MAAEYC) and Governor Maura Healey appointed me co-chair of her public policy committee overseeing early education legislation. It’s an exhilarating time to be involved and I am very proud of all the work my team and I have done at the State House. In February, I’m traveling to Washington DC to speak at the Capital (the first time early education is being presented on The Hill) urging other states to follow Massachusetts’s lead in funding Early Childhood Education.
My daughter Maggie is in 1st grade at The Hayes School and my stepson Donato is in his freshman year of high school. My husband Kevin works for the Brookline police department and is a musician.
In my spare time I run marathons (I’ve completed Boston 8 times), and I spend as much time as possible with my family.
