If you work with students in a Brookline public school in any capacity, you are eligible for BEF grants and awards! That means classroom teachers, guidance counselors, paraprofessionals, cafeteria workers, social workers, gym teachers, art teachers, music teachers… anyone working with students is an educator and we want to hear from you about support you might need to continue your professional growth.

We offer four types of grants, and there are specific pages detailing the timelines for applying for each:

Educator and Collaborative grants are now open! Mark your calendars for our Information Sessions (Jan 14 at 22 Tappan/BHS, Jan 22 at the Baldwin School, both from 3-4pm) and our Grantwriting Workshops (Feb 12 and 25 at Town Hall, drop in anytime between 3 and 5pm).

Additionally, we offer several types of awards and fellowships. Please consider applying to be a Margaret Metzger Fellow – an amazing opportunity to work in community for a week over the summer writing and reflecting on the craft of teaching. And please consider nominating a colleague for the prestigious Ernest R. Caverly Award for Excellence in Teaching – the BEF awards two of these every year, one to a preK – 8th grade educator and one to a BHS educator.

Here is a chart showing the dates for each grant and award cycle. Please note that “Teacher Grants” are now called “Educator Grants” and the limit of funding per participant has increased from $3,000 to $3,500. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or if you’d like to bounce an idea off us! We look forward to hearing from you!
