My wife Sarita Chung and I are Brookline parents with 3 kids: Renata (rising college Senior), Calder
(rising high school Senior), and Archer (rising 5th Grader). All our kids have gone through the Brookline
Public Schools, doing their K-8 years at Driscoll School and moving on to Brookline High School.
I’m an architect by training with undergraduate and graduate degrees from Princeton AB ’91 and Yale
School of Architecture ’96 and I’m registered to practice in the state of Massachusetts. My career
experiences have spanned various roles within the profession – I’ve worked as a designer for large
architectural practices including C.Y. Lee in Taipei, Robert A. M. Stern in New York City, and Graham Gund
Architects in Cambridge, MA – working on a wide variety of building types including high-rise towers,
academic buildings for private schools, a baseball stadium, and high-end residences. I’ve also worked in
real estate in the combined roles of owner, architect, and developer, collaborating closely with the City
of Somerville to develop a medium sized town house project in the Spring Hill neighborhood near Union
Square. Presently, I am the Director of Planning and Design at the Harvard Graduate School of Education
where I support the school’s space planning needs within their existing facilities, make hiring
recommendations for architects for capital projects, and offer guidance for larger scale master planning.
Throughout my life, I’ve always been heavily involved in the arts, whether as a violinist during my high
school years or as a music director of my a cappella group during college. This passion for the arts in
conjunction with my background as an architect led to an earlier board experience with the Greenwood
Music Camp – a chamber music camp in western Massachusetts that I attended for two summers during
high school. My role on the Greenwood board member was to serve as an owner’s rep to help the camp
plan a new dining facility. After fully understanding the camp’s program needs, and their estimated
budget, I sent out requests for proposals to architects, finalized the architect selection, and represented
the camp throughout the design process up until the completion of construction.
