This year’s Margaret Metzger fellows recently completed their week-long workshop, which they spent at a communal work space in Back Bay under the leadership of new program facilitator Dominique Herard. The workshop consists of sharing, introspection, and lots of writing, including receiving and giving feedback on writing and eventually honing each Fellow’s essay on their personal journey through a life spent in education. This year’s Fellows represent a broad range of school, grade level, and discipline – they are: Kathleen Cowherd, Pierce Special Educator; John Ferguson, K-8 music educator; Rob Garrison, Pierce kindergarten paraprofessional; Joeanna McPherson, BHS adjustment counselor; Emily Redburn, Hayes 1st grade teacher; and Donna Sartanowicz, K-12 visual arts curriculum coordinator. Mark your calendars for the “Tales From The Classroom” event when the community will come together to hear their moving essays read aloud – November 19, 2026 at Lincoln School.
