We welcome donors who would like to make a long-term commitment to supporting the Public Schools of Brookline through the BEF. Over the years, families and individuals have established named funds to underwrite certain awards and teaching and learning activities in the name of a family member or friend.
Currently, the Brookline Education Foundation presents several awards/fellowships that honor exceptional Brookline educators and grant recipients:
- Ernest R. Caverly Award for Excellence in Teaching – presented annually to a K-8 educator and a BHS educator
- Charlie Baker Legacy Award – presented annually to an outstanding recipient of a Teacher grant
- Adam Russell Gelfand Fellowship – presented annually to an outstanding recipient of a Teacher grant
- David E. Pradell Award – presented annually to an outstanding recipient of a Teacher grant
- Elizabeth Ascoli Award for Innovation in Experiential Learning – presented annually to an outstanding recipient of an Idea Lab grant
- Robert I. Sperber Award for Excellence in Administration – presented every five years to an administrator
- Margaret Metzger Fellowship Award – presented to six Brookline educators each year, allowing them to participate in an essay writing workshop for one week during the summer to explore their experiences with the craft of teaching
In addition, the BEF hosts three named funds that support activities in children’s literature, pre-k enrichment programs, and math and science enrichment:
